Honouring COVID-19 victims: The Coronavirus Memorial Quilt

Today I joined fellow MPs to see the finished Covid-19 Memorial Quilt on display in Parliament. This is a significant memorial to commemorate the victims of Covid-19. Contributions from up and down the country have been sewn together to create a tapestry that illustrates the struggles, loss, and shared experiences during the pandemic. The memorial also commemorates the key workers who supported us all throughout.

More about the project

The purpose of this project was to create a Parliamentary Coronavirus Memorial Quilt displaying a different patch representing each Parliamentary constituency across the country as a sign of unity and in memory of all those loved and lost during the pandemic.

The project was curated by my friend Dawn Butler MP alongside designer and researcher at the University of Bristol Naomi Clarke who stitched the quilt together so beautifully.

As you will see from the photo above the patch I have submitted to represent Liverpool Riverside displays our city’s iconic Liver Building.
