Why we must fight to keep our NHS free at the point of use

In the year when we celebrate the 75th birthday of the NHS, the greatest achievement of this country and of Labour, we are seeing a return to the piecemeal, fragmented, chaotic and two-tier health service that existed before then, where private profit is put before people’s needs.

I was pleased to speak in the Westminster Hall debate called by my colleague, Margaret Greenwood MP, in defence of the NHS where I called for the repeal of the 2022 Health & Care Act, dismantling of the Integrated Care Boards, and a return to a publicly owned and accountable health service, free at the point of need, equal provision for all.
