Home Affairs Committee: Policing of protests.

In this week’s session of the Home Affairs Committee, the Committee took oral evidence from Chris Nineham, Vice Chair, Stop the War Coalition; Ben Jamal, Director, Palestinian Solidarity Campaign; Yasmine Adam, Head of Media & Politics Office, Muslim Association of Britain.

I asked Yasmine if she felt that the approach from the police in response to recent pro-Palestine marches had been more about protection rather than policing and if she felt Muslim organisations had received enough support to deal with rising Islamophobia.

I also questioned Ben to ask if he felt recent protests taking place had been received with “politicised” police approaches given statements by made the former Home Secretary and some Government Ministers.
