Showing racism the red card

Joining colleagues from across the House, 5 different political parties in total, alongside sports stars Monty Panesar, Andrew Christie, Ledley King and Paul Elliot to show racism the red card.

I’ve always fought racism, I’ve always had no choice, and I am proud to take that fight into Parliament, in my role as an MP. As such I am proud to be secretary of the APPG on Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC).

Established in 1996 through a donation by then Newcastle United’s Shake Hislop, the charity has used high profile sports men and women to challenge racism, especially in the schools and with young people.

Having worked with over 1,000,000 people in its 25 year history, SRtRC is the UK’s leading anti-racism charity and I am very pleased to be one of their supporters. This week (12 September) SRtRC hosted a photoshoot to promote its annual #WearRedDay on 20 October where we can all demonstrate our commitment to eradicating racism.
